Important Information for importing Goods in to UK
Bringing goods to UK are liable for customs Duty, VAT, Agents' delivery charges, fees and Hand Search or Scanning. The importer should be aware that bringing illegal goods in to UK can face heavy fines or even confiscation of goods. You are also advised to have EORI Number for commercial cargo imports, without EORI cargo it can not be customs cleared and all proper documents, export-import licenses, commercial invoice, packing list and any other documents relating to the shipment requirements to avoid delays / storage charges, and for personal effects imports, personal ID card or passport copy is required for clearance purpose.
All Personal effects are also subject to Import Duty and VAT, and customers should be aware that goods held more than one day at airports can have airport storage charges, which are very expensive, in some cases £100 per day, as airlines' appointed handling agents are really very expensive.
For sea shipments, there is 7 days free time after arrival, but the same import rules apply.
